My Portfolio
HarpersGlobe.com
Harper’s Globe is an online show and a social network where users watch and participate while the storyline unfolds. Even better, the website accompanies the TV Show Harper’s Island which is currently airing on CBS. The storylines cross over and so do some of the cast! It’s an unprecedented combination. CBS even runs commercials just for Harper’s Globe during the show.
The website is powered by the EQAL social network webshow platform which is based on software sold by Tysam Networks (co-founded by me) to EQAL in mid-2008. The features of the site, to name a few, include videos, blogs, photos, profile comments, discussion forums, private messaging, and more.
I continue to help EQAL develop the code to further improve their platform and also manage the administration and deployment of the software across many load balanced servers. I also help EQAL with their software development methodologies by, most recently, implementing an installer for easier deployment of their websites for development, staging, and production environments
LG15.com
Lg15.com is the first site to be powered on the EQAL platform mentioned above. If you do not recall Lonelygirl15 is the iconic girl who appeared on YouTube when that site was brand new who gained a worldwide following to her vlogs. Turns out their actually was a company behind her videos. That company is EQAL
Funki.jp
Funki.jp was a college social network based in Japan that was launched while I was the CTO of a now defunct company. It was never commercially successful, but I learnt a tremendous amount developing the code (LAMP). From day 1, we built the software to scale by partitioning the database and implementing caching into the fabric of our code. And of course, I’m pretty good with internationalization now too.
RateDesi Hungama Beta
RateDesi Hungama’s goal is to provide a listing of Hindi Film albums and songs, and to match up each song with its music video from YouTube. It is still in beta.
RateDesi.com and RateHispanic.com
These two niche websites which I own, RateDesi.com and RateHispanic.com, are from the “Hot or Not” era before the word “social network” even existed. However, at this point I would call them social networks. Both websites receive millions of hits each month despite their legacy code and look (which will be updated circa 2009).
Both sites run off the LAMP platform and have taught me how to scale and administer very large websites that require multiple servers.
